"Who can find a
virtuous wife?
For her worth is far
above rubies.
The heart of her husband
safely trusts her;
So he will have no lack
of gain.
She does him good and
not evil
All the days of her

Women and 1 Timothy 2: 8-15
In our study of women's
roles, we have seen that God has given men and women different functions and
responsibilities and does not make one inferior. In 1 Timothy, the apostle
Paul is writing to a young preacher and instructing him on how to deal with
church life. He directs him to follow God's orders for the congregation and
correct those who would teach something different. Notice 1 Timothy 3: 14,
15 and 1 Timothy 1: 3-7.
Our particular text for
this lesson, 1 Timothy 2: 8- 15, Falls within a broader section—chapters two
and three—that focus on worship and church organization. Both of these
chapters deal with leadership among God's people.
Notice the verses right
before our text (verses 1-7): teach that all of us must submit to God and
Christ. He also informs his readers why they must listen to his
instructions. He is an inspired apostle.

A
Woman's Place
This is a hard time to raise a family, and harder still
to raise a family in the church. Today’s culture is so Anti
Christianity, our children see it in their video games, in most
television and Lord help you when they get old enough to access the
internet, they can find ANYTHING there. When they leave home, it
is no better, most colleges have made it their mission to demean and
dismiss Christianity. |

Mens and Womens Roles in Worship
The apostle Paul, in his letter to Timothy,
stressed how important it was to pray for all people, especially for those
in civil government. The purpose was for an environment conducive to
evangelism, for the spreading of the good news that God wants all men to be
saved. Paul now uses the concept of prayer, as an introduction to men’s and
women’s roles in worship – a vital part of how the church is to conduct
itself.
Theme:
Recognize that both men and women are to
faithfully serve in the sphere where God has prepared each to serve.

Outstanding Women in the Old Testament
The Bible informs us of how important it is to study the Old Testament. (Romans
15:4)
“For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that
we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.”
NKJV
(I
Corinthians 10:11) “Now all these things happened to them as examples, and
they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have
come.”
NKJV

The Need For The Older, Mature Ladies in the Church
The church so very much needs
the wisdom and counsel of older women, women who have been married for many
years and have raised a family, women who have worked outside the home at
times in various careers, women who have taught Bible classes and helped the
church in many different ways. God’s word exhorts older women to model
godliness and instructs the younger women about what it means to be a
Christian woman. In our text, the Bible reveals three aspects of Christian
womanhood.

The Worthy Woman Part
1 The role of women in the local
congregation is vital to the future of that church.
There are just a few limitations placed upon women
compared to the large number of works in which she can
be involved. Each and every congregation of God’s
people would find it very difficult to function
effectively without the input of the women. Their work
is extremely valuable and important. It’s just
different in some ways than men’s work. |

The Worthy Woman
Part 2
We have seen in our study of women’s role in worship
that God has given different functions and
responsibilities to men and women. These do not make
one inferior to the other. In I
Timothy, the apostle Paul is writing to a young preacher
instructing him on how to deal with church life. He is
directing one to follow God’s order for congregations
and correcting those who would teach something else.
Notice I Timothy 3:14-15. “These things I write to you,
though I hope to come to you shortly; but if I am
delayed, I write so that you may know how you ought to
conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the
church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the
truth.” I Timothy 1:3-7 “As I urged you when I went
into Macedonia – remain in Ephesus that you may charge
some that they teach no other doctrine, nor give heed to
fables and endless genealogies, which cause disputes
rather that godly edification which is in faith. Now
the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure
heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith,
from which some, having strayed, have turned aside to
idle talk, desiring to be teachers of the law,
understanding neither what they say nor the things which
they affirm.” NKJV
Those to whom all of us must submit: God and Christ.
Paul also informs his readers as to why they must listen
to his instructions. He is an inspired apostle.
